M&I Materials Ltd is proud to announce that we will be sponsoring and supporting our local British swimmer, Matthew Walker, MBE at the London 2012 Paralympics.
The team at M&I are thrilled that this year’s Games will be held on home soil and are really looking forward to watching Matt swim. Commenting on the partnership between M&I and Matt, Managing Director Giles Salt said: ”Having the Games in the UK is a historical event and offering our support to a local athlete is a great way to mark the occasion.”
Matt, who is from Marple, Greater Manchester, was part of the victorious 4x100m relay team that took gold at Beijing 2008. This took Matt’s already impressive haul of Paralympic accolades to three golds, five silvers and three bronzes. Speaking about London 2012 Matt said: “It’s a great honour to go to my 4th Paralympics games and being a home games it will be a great experience. However, I couldn’t have done this without the support of my coach, family, friends and sponsors. When I came to visit M&I I was impressed with the structure of the company, to me it looks friendly and relaxed, if gold medals were given to companies M&I would definitely have one.”
Matt will be going for gold in the 100m freestyle, the 50m fly and possibly the 4x100m relay but his strongest event is undoubtedly the 50m freestyle. Since 2009 Matt has become World Champion, European Champion and Commonwealth Champion in this discipline and hopefully with the support of M&I Materials he will become the Paralympic Champion at London 2012. We hope you will join us in cheering him on to victory.
