Wolfmet is proud to be supporting the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) upgrade at CERN.
The HL-LHC represents a major advancement in particle physics, increasing the collision rate of the Large Hadron Collider by a factor of ten. This unprecedented leap will enable researchers to explore rare physical phenomena, improve measurement precision, and push beyond the limits of the Standard Model of physics.
To achieve these goals, CERN required materials capable of performing under some of the most extreme conditions found in engineering – including intense radiation, ultra-low cryogenic temperatures, ultra-high vacuum environments, and powerful magnetic fields. Wolfmet was selected to supply high-density tungsten heavy alloy shielding for the HL-LHC beam screens, a critical component that protects superconducting magnets and cryogenic systems from radiation damage and excessive heat load.
