On Thursday 4th February, M&I Materials and its team were very proud to host a Royal visit from HRH The Prince of Wales.
Selected because of outstanding achievement in export and manufacturing, the company was honoured to be the only commercial business to receive a Royal visit on The Prince’s 2010 tour of Manchester.
The Prince was greeted by Chairman of M&I Materials, Colin Salt and given a tour of the impressive manufacturing facilities. During the walk, The Prince stopped to ask employees about their work and was treated to presentations about each of the company’s successful product ranges: Apiezon, Metrosil, Midel and Wolfmet.
Once the tour of the factory was complete, The Prince moved into the offices. It was here that special recognition was given to eight of the company’s longest serving employees for providing a combined term of 290 years’ hard work and dedication.
Requesting to say a few words before unveiling a plaque to commemorate his visit, The Prince commented: “It is remarkable what you have managed to achieve in this company. I can imagine how much hard work, effort and dedication has gone into it, and you are one of the most exemplary companies in this part of the world.”
The Prince brought proceedings to an end by thanking the company for their continued contribution towards raising the profile of the UK as an exporter of quality products.
Speaking after the visit, Giles Salt, Managing Director of M&I Materials, commented: “A Queen’s Award from Her Majesty The Queen, a new office in India, climate change discussions at No.10 and now a visit from His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. Our success in the last year is testament to a company that is not content to stand still. I am very proud of the whole team.”
